They fight

Trying to get in some good portfolio material for SDCC. As always, this kinda started with an aimless doodle that I ran with. I don't draw women too often because I'm not one of those guys that can pull it off and make them look all sexified and stuff, but I should probably stop avoiding it and try to work on the female form.

I was very much influenced by anime when I was younger, and I don't think I want to completely lose my taste for that aesthetic, which is what's been happening as I immerse myself deeper and deeper into the gorgeous world of american feature animation. Guys like Dice Tsutsumi and Paul Felix and Glen Keane have been having such strong impact on my work lately, I think this painting was me shifting towards some of my earlier obsessions. I like what came out of it but there's still a lot meshing of influences to come.

If I'm not lazy, I'll post a step by step soon since I happened to save a bunch of jpegs as I worked on this.

*EDIT* Also, I've been meaning to try to not take my paintings to such a smooth finish and to leave my brush strokes in there a little more. I totally failed in that with this one.
